31 days in july

31 Days in July is a collaborative art project by Washington, DC artists Matt Sesow and Dana Ellyn, first launched in 2003 in response to the Iraq War. Each day in July, they create one painting inspired by that morning’s world news—capturing history as it unfolds, without fear or favor. After completing 620 paintings between 2003 and 2013, the project returns in 2025—renewed as a daily collaboration reflecting the urgency of today’s global events.
