Collaborative painting by Dana Ellyn & Matt Sesow.

Created to honor the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Postal Service (July 26, 1775–2025), this painting layers Benjamin Franklin’s likeness — the first Postmaster General — with vintage postage history. Collaged within the portrait are the 1947 3¢ “U.S. Postage Stamp Centenary” and the 1940 National Defense Issue stamps. Paired with Franklin’s quote “Well done is better than well said,” the piece celebrates a legacy of communication, resilience, and innovation.
